"Visionary" Car Showcase to Stop By Atlanta Next Month

by Zac Pasmanick - The Zac Team @ RE/MAX Metro Atlant
An exhibition is being put together at the Atlanta High Museum of Art that will showcase 17 concept cars from across Europe and the U.S.

Just to give you an idea of how "unique" these vehicles are from what you see during rush hour, there's General Motors' Firebird I, which looks more like a jet than a car. Though these out-of-this-world designs didn't really catch on, they showed how automotive design could push the boundaries of what was possible.

"Dream Cars: Innovative Design, Visionary Ideas" opens on May 21st and will run until the 7th of Semptember. Visit the museum's site for more info:

by Zac Pasmanick - The Zac Team @ RE/MAX Metro Atlant

It goes without saying that The Lion King is an absolute classic, with viewers of all ages being able to derive many a fond memory from the Disney animated film. Recently, this has been made evident by its Broadway incarnation THE LION KING, where its Atlanta engagement grossed the highest weekly domestic gross in its history ($2,402.279 during a nine-performance week that ended April 20). Performing at The Fox Theatre for the first time, the three-week return ended on April 27 with a bang, grossing over $6.2 million at the box office.

Atlanta Artist and His Walmart Paintings Make Headlines

by Zac Pasmanick - The Zac Team @ RE/MAX Metro Atlant

Most of us go to places like Walmart for groceries and booze, and so does Brendan O'Connell. To him though, not only are Walmart branches supermarkets, they're also art studios.

O'Connell, A Tucker Native, left for Paris after graduating in 1990. It is there where he did portraits of tourists before returning stateside after a few years. Upon coming back, he noticed that Walmart had become quite the sensation. He would enter the department store to preserve in painting the colorful details therein, and got in trouble for it pretty much every time.

Eventually though, Walmart stopped kicking him out after realizing his art did not paint (pardon the pun) the retail corporation in a negative light at all. O'Connell has been practicing his craft there since.

East Atlanta Village Facelift to be Crowdsourced

by Zac Pasmanick - The Zac Team @ RE/MAX Metro Atlant
Paces Properties is eying a potentially prime piece of East Atlanta Village real estate for renovation, which it plans to fund through crowdsourcing. Through this method alone, they intend to raise at least $250,000 to buy a commercial center along Glenwood Avenue.

Feel like pitching in? You're free to do so, for a minimum contribution of $500 which may be a little steep for most. You may want to consider an equity investment instead.

Atlanta Library Reopens

by Zac Pasmanick - The Zac Team @ RE/MAX Metro Atlant

At 106 years old, the library closed down on January for a three-month restoration project costing $150,000. The funding came through a referendum passed by local taxpayers in April of last year. The project's focus was to restore the facility, as closely as possible, to its original condition.

Though the library has been open since Monday, you can look forward to its grand opening on Memorial Day.

AT&T Eyes Atlanta for High Speed Internet Service

by Zac Pasmanick - The Zac Team @ RE/MAX Metro Atlant
With Google Fiber looming over the horizon, AT&T is considering providing high speed Internet in 21 new major metropolitan areas, including Atlanta.

According to AT&T, such a service will deliver broadband speeds of up to 1 Gigabit per second to consumers and businesses, which is 100 times faster than your basic run-of-the-mill broadband connection.

No word yet as to when Atlanta might get the gigabit service or how much it would cost. Should it come to fruition, the service would only be available to U-verse TV subscribers.
