Fewer New Home Starts Leads to Decrease In Metro Atlanta's New Home Inventory
Hello neighbors,
If you or someone you know are in the market for a new home, your choices may become more limited according to a recent article in the Atlanta Business Chronicle.
It seems as if the new home inventory in Atlanta is decreasing due to the fewer number of new home starts. According to Metrostudy Inc., approximately 4,400 homes were started which is a significant decrease compared to 31,218 starts in 2007 and 11,987 starts last year. Therefore the inventory of new homes in this region has decreased from 23,046 (end of 2008) to 13,438 today.
As for the sales of new homes, according to Metrostudy Inc., an estimated 14,000 new homes were sold throughout the region last year. In comparison, 37,711 new homes were sold in the region 3 years ago in 2007, and 22,419 new homes were sold in 2008.
In addition, last year's top selling community in Metro Atlanta was Sun City Peachtree: The Spalding Community by the Del Webb division of Pulte Homes Inc., which sold 132 homes.
The other top 10 selling communities of Metro Atlanta last year included: Harmony on the Lakes in Cherokee County, Seven Hills in Paulding County, Village at Deaton Creek in Hall County, Princeton Crossing in Gwinnett County, James Creek in Forsyth County, Fieldstone in Forsyth County, Oakley Township in south Fulton County, Brookmont in Douglas County, and Liberty Park townhouses in north Fulton County.
