Atlanta's newest mayor Kasim Reed was sworn in today by chief justice of the Georgia Supreme Court, Carol Hunstein. During Reed's inauguration address, he promised to improve Atlanta's business permitting process which is often criticized.

Other promises from Reed in today's ceremony included rectifying the employee pension system and reopening all of Atlanta's recreation centers.

Reed became Atlanta's 59th mayor after defeating Mary Norwood in last month's race.

Atlanta's newest city council president, Ceasar Mitchell, and other city council members were also sworn into office during today's ceremony at Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center.
