New Tax Credits for Georgia Home Buyers? Plus, the Value of the Written Word
Hello Neighbors,
Below is another installment of the weekly Wednesday email that I send out to all local Atlanta real estate agents. Just thought I would share it with all of you, too! Enjoy.

Dear Colleagues,
Yesterday, our nation watched history in the making with the election of our 44th President. In his speech, he addressed the economy and called for the rebuilding of America to bring us out of these financially troubling times. Many of us are already practicing what he is preaching by going back to the basics of our business. We as real estate agents still play a powerful role in this economy and can work hard to do our part to help people attain and hold onto the American dream of home ownership. Again, I am grateful that it is 2009 and know that we are all on our way to a successful year!
New tax breaks for Georgia home buyers? In an attempt to move new developments and foreclosed homes through the market, state lawmakers are considering tax credits for buyers of these homes in the amounts of $2,500, $3,500, or $5,000. The upside? Drawing down the months of inventory sitting on the Atlanta market right now. The downside? A cost to taxpayers of $281.1 up to $562.3 million. Read the full article here.
Falling interest rates. For the 11th straight week, interest rates continued to drop and 30-year mortgages are at an all-time low since Freddie Mac started tracking them in 1971. Read the article here...
Remembering the value of the written word. When’s the last time you opened your mailbox and found a personal note from someone? with a real stamp? Perhaps not that long ago since the holiday season has just come and gone, but we all get excited about receiving a real letter. With all the electronic forms of communication we have these days, a handwritten note can be a powerful tool to use when touching base with future, current, and past clients.
