Real Estate Appraisal Organizations Requesting Chief Appraiser
Hello neighbors,
In recent reports, the U.S. Department of the Interior is being called upon to pick a competent appraiser.
RISMedia recently reported that the Appraisal Institute, one of the nation's largest real estate appraiser organizations, in conjunction with other groups such as the: American Society of Appraisers, the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers and the National Association of Independent Fee Appraisers, requested for Interior Secretary, Ken Salaza, to select a chief appraiser to lead the ASD (Appraisal Services Directorate).
The organization's request was sent in the form of a letter stating "Our organizations believe appraisal issues are extremely complex, and the importance of the appraisal function must be elevated within the Department. It is critical for the appraisal function to be led by a technically competent appraiser."
The position has been vacant since 2006 and has yet to be filled by a qualified applicant.
