Greetings neighbors,

With the spread of green living and construction around the nation, Georgia joins the ranks by adding three communities to the list of ARC certification. Cobb, Alpharetta, and Decatur are the first three communities in the region to qualify for Green Communities Certification from the Atlanta Regional  Commission (ARC).

In order to qualify, local governments have to uphold practices and policies in areas such as energy efficiency and green building or transportation and water efficiency.

Launched by the ARC to promote environmental reservation, the Green Communities program is the first in the U.S. that seeks to change a region through sustainability through a green certification program for local governments.

Cobb County earned a silver level certification in addition to Alpharetta and Decatur both earning bronze certification.
